Gazi Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Fiziksel Tıp ve Rehabilitasyon Anabilim Dalı, Kardiyak Rehabilitasyon Ünitesi, ANKARA Cardiac rehabilitation is an indispensable component of contemporary management of most cardiac diseases. Mortality and morbidity rates due to coronary artery disease are fairly high in our country. Disability associated with coronary artery disease in elderly patients proves to be more severe compared to younger patient population. This necessitates the implementation of cardiac rehabilitation in the elderly patient. Exercise training is one of the core components of cardiac rehabilitation programs. Appropriate knowledge for principles of exercise training in elderly patients is essential. All-cause mortality, morbidity and disability are reduced through cardiac rehabilitation programs in elderly cardiac patients. Keywords : Cardiac; Rehabilitation; Aging; Heart disease
