Vaccination is one of the most important indicators of preventive health care among sixty-five and over age group. In order to determine the vaccination ratio in this group, consultations between May 2003 and October 2003 in healthy adult clinics is examined about their attitudes if the had been vaccinated by influenza, pneumococcal and tetanus vaccines and their knowledge regarding these vaccinations. The vaccination ratios were determined as 26.8% for influenza and 1.8% for tetanus, although no vaccination for pneumococcus. While none of the study group had good knowledge regarding pneumococcal and tetanus vaccination, only 25% of them had good knowledge regarding influenza vaccination. We emerged from this study that there is need for improving the preventive health care for geriatric age group and training this age group about adult vaccination.
