DETERMINATION OF WOMEN'S HEALTH PROBLEMS AND INFLUENCING FACTORS IN 65 YEARS OF AGE AND OLDER PEOPLE

Introduction: This study was prepared in descriptive manner with the aim of the determination of the problems related to women's health and the factors influencing those in 65 and over years old women.

Materials and Method: 907 women, aged 65 and over years, registered to Yavruturna Village Clinic in Provincial Centre of Çorum, Turkey were constituted the scope of this study. 208 women were randomly selected. Data were collected by using a questionnaire in between 10 November and 10 December 2004. Data analysis was done by SPSS 11.0. In the evaluation of data received the tests of χ-square and percentage tests were used.

Results: In the study, 87.1% of the women has health problem, 89.6% of the women has cardiovascular problems, 63.7% of the women has rheumatismal disease, 52.4% of the women has pollacuri, 49.7% of those has stress incontinence, urge incontinence, 45.7% of those has uterine prolapse, 37.0% of those has cystocele, 89.9% of those has osteoporosis, 17.4% of those has fractures, 83.3% of those has hip fractures and 15.8% of those has gynecologic cancer, 48.5% of those has uterine cancer, 33.3% of those has breast cancer.

Conclusion: Development of preventive health policy in ageing period of women might be recommended. Keywords : Eldery, Women, Health problems
