INTRADURAL INTRAMEDULLARY SPINAL CORD METASTASIS IN AN ELDERLY CASE WITH LYMPHOMA
Kayseri Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi Radyasyon Onkoloji Kliniği KAYSERİ
Intradural intramedullary spinal cord (IISC) metastases are considered to be quite rare. They
account for 1 to 3% of all intramedullary spinal cord lesions, and 0.9-2.1 % of spinal metastases.
IISC metastases have been also reported to arise from primary lesions such as lung, breast,
colorectal, prostate, lymphoma, renal cell carcinoma and malign melanoma. Primary origins of
each 1/10 patients are obscure. Prognostically location is the most important feature, but the
clinical presentation, patient' age and gender are also important. Magnetic resonance imaging
plays a central role in the detection of masses and their discriminative characteristics. Treatment
is generally surgery, chemotherapy and/or irradiation. In this study, we describe a rare case of
IISC metastases in an old patient with lymphoma and together with a review of the literature.
