Zonguldak Karaelmas Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Kardiyoloji Anabilim Dalı, ZONGULDAK Infective endocarditis (IE) in the elderly is increasingly frequent due to especially health care-associated invasive procedures, prostetic heart valves and degenerative valve sclerosis which are more common among elderly. A gastrointestinal source of infection has been described more commonly and group D Streptococci associated with colonic disease, are an increasingly frequent cause of IE in elderly patients.
