XEROSIS, ITCHING AND THEIR TREATMENT IN ELDERLY PATIENTS

KSÜ Tıp Fakültesi Dermatoloji Anabilim Dalı - KAHRAMANMARAŞ For elder people, dry skin (xerosis) and itching are very common symptoms such that it has been reported that nearly 77% of people over 65 years old have been diagnosed with this problem. Sometimes, these symptoms can affect the social life of the patients. In addition to itching, xerosis is also, well-known symptom for many dermatological and systemic diseases. So that elderly patients should be given close medical attention. In this review, the problem of itching for elderly patients is discussed in terms of its diagnosis, differential diagnosis and treatment.
