THE ROLE OF THE NURSE IN GERIATRIC REHABILITATION

Ege Ünivresitesi Hemşirelik Yüksekokulu İç Hastalıkları Hemşireliği Anabilim Dalı, İZMİR Nurses take an active role in each parts of geriatric rehabilitation thruogh aims, process and philosophy of rehabilitation such as all rehabilitation programs. While carrying out their responsibilities in rehabilitation settings, rehabilitation nurses work through available politics of their country with Rehabilitation Nursing Standarts includings care standarts and professional performan standarts. Rehabilitation nurses take care the nursing theories for elderly person; deal with holistic aprroach, problem-solving; make physiological, phschological and social support in their practise. They try to promote elderly.s ability of daily living activities and quality of life. Rehabilitation nurses have many responsibilities such as educator, caregiver, counselor, care coordinator, patient adviser, researcher and expert witnessing for elderly patient and their family.
