VARIANTS OF OSTEOARTHRITIS AND SECONDARY OSTEOARTHRITIS

Başkent Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi, Fiziksel Tıp ve Rehabilitasyon Anabilim Dalı, ANKARA Osteoarthritis (OA) is the most common form of arthritis defi ned as a heterogenous group of problems which are associated with the integration defect of articular cartilage in addition to related changes in the subchondral bone. OA is a disorder of diverse etiologies and usually classifi ed as primary or secondary based on the presence of a recognized causative factors. Patients with an underlying disease that appears to have caused their OA are classifi ed as having secondary OA. Spesifi c articular patterns of OA may represent subsets or variants that have distinctive clinical presentation, course and outcome. This review summarizes classifi cation of OA, variants of primary OA and common causes of secondary OA. Keywords : Musculoskeletal Diseases, Arthritis, Osteoarthritis
