Introduction: Patients undergoing hemodialysis are functionally limited by physical, emotional, and social factors. In this study, impairment states of geriatric and young hemodialysis patients are compared.

Materials and Method: One hundred twenty three hemodialysis patients are included in the study. Geriatric hemodialysis group comprised 55 patients (27 females and 28 males) and young hemodialysis group comprised 68 patients (26 females and 42 males). CHART SF was used for assessment of impairment.

Results: According to the CHART SF results, there were statistically significant differences between the groups in relation to physical independence, cognitive independence, employment status and social integration in favor of the younger group. However, there was no difference between the two groups with regard to mobility evaluation.

Conclusion: The degree of impairment increases in hemodialysis patients due to plural co-morbidities. Impairmentes are more common in geriatric compared to the young dialysis patients. Keywords : Geriatric; Renal Dialysis; Disability Evaluation
