ELDERLY EVALUATION FORM DEVELOPED FOR NURSES AND GERIATRIC PROBLEMS

In this direction; the aim of this study is to develop a ‘Geriatric Examination Form’ which will let nurses to collect data about elderly client; to name the approprıate nurse diagnosis by fixing the problems of client and decide to the interventions and collect data with using this form about elderly to make a database for nurses and other health care team members. This is a cross-sectional and descriptive study. The researchers use the ‘Geriatric Examination Form’ to collect data from 70 elderly people who were admitted to Unıversity of Ankara Medical School Cebeci Hospital Geriatrics Clinics, that is formed with searching the related literature. Chi-square, Fisher’s exact test and Percentage calculatıng tests are used to evaluate the data. It has been found that almost half of the clıents don’t have any ınfluenza, tetanus and pneumococcal ımmunızatıon,; many of them has hypertension and osteoporosis; many of them has hearing deficit; more than half is perceiving old age negatively; women are perceiving old age more positively than men (p<0.05); obesity are widespread among low educated people and men; the osteoporosis are widespread among high educated people and women; the ratıo of accidents is high in women,and ın whom are between 70-79 aged (p<0.05); the status of dependency in activities of daily living of bathing and house work is high in the old between 70-79 years old (p<0.05); those who is using glasses have higher dependence level at mobility, using telephone and taking drugs (p<0.05).
