Dokuz Eylül Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Hastanesi İç Hastalıkları A.D. - Yoğun Bakım Ünitesi, İnciraltı, İzmir
Adverse drug reactions are mostly encountered among elderly over sixtyfive years. One of the main reasons of this observation is that this group of patients suffers from chronic diseases. In the United Kingdom, adults of over sixty-five years take a mean of two daily prescribed drugs and over seventy-five years this mean increases to 2,5 drugs. Emergency departments' records show that dermatological complaints are the most common adverse drug reaction mainly due to allergic reactions. Cardiovascular drugs and antibiotics are reported to be the major groups of drug involved in adverse drug reactions.
