OPINIONS OF PERSONNEL IN REST HOMES ABOUT THE RISK OF ELDERLY FALLS
Hacettepe Üniversitesi Hemşirelik Yüksek Okulu ANKARA Introduction: This study was conducted for the purpose of determining what the opinions are of health care personnel who work in rest homes about risk factors for falls in the elderly.

Materials and Method: This study was conducted as a descriptive type of research with 91 personnel who agreed to participate in the study and who worked in one of four rest homes in Ankara province municipality. Number and percentage were used in the statistical evaluation of data, and Chi square test for significance was used in the statistical evaluation of correlations between dependent and independent variables.

Results: The primary group of personnel who are employed in rest homes for the elderly are aides, 73.6% of the personnel considered a fall to be a normal event in the elderly and 86.8% thought that employees could do something to prevent falls. It was determined that 60.0% of the employees felt like they needed education on the reason for falls in the elderly, problems that lead to falls, and prevention

Conclusion: To make this happen it is recommended that studies be conducted that would increase the awareness of falls in rest homes and that importance be given to the education of personnel and the elderly. Keywords : Rest homes, Elder, Fall, Risk factors, Personnel, Nursing
