Material and Method: Totally 151 geriatric stroke patients were included in the study. In this study, the ages, genders, stroke etiologies, complication and the systemic diseases of the patients were recorded.
Results: The mean age of 151 (49.1% female, 50.9% male) geriatric patients was 72.18 ± 4.6 years 125 (82.7%) of geriatric patients had one and more systemic disease. It was found that comorbid disease was hypertension in 73.5%, atherosclerotic heart disease in 27.1%, diabetes mellitus in 17.8%, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease in 9.2%. 49.0% had shoulder pain and,36% shoulder subluksasyon , 29.8% had speech disorder, 27.1% had urinary dysfunction, 16.5% had complex regional pain syndrome, 16.5% had bowel dysfunction, 10.5% had deep vein thrombosis, 4.6% had dysphagia, 1.9% had pressure ulcer and 5.9% had depression symptom.
Conclusion: Cerebrovascular accident in geriatric patients is one of the most important causes of morbidity and mortality. The rehabilitation program of geriatric stroke patients are offen affected negatively by the complications and comorbid medical conditions.
