CORONARY ARTERY DISEASE IN THE ELDERLY
İstanbul Üniversitesi Cerrahpaşa Tıp Fakültesi Kardiyoloji Anabilim Dalı, İSTANBUL
Incidence of coronary artery disease (CAD) increases with advancing age.
Most of the deaths attributed to CAD take place in patients over 65 years. The
treatment of CAD in the elderly aims both to decrease morbidity, mortality and
increasing the quality of life. The treatment of CAD in the advanced age group
has some different aspects when compared to that of the younger age group.
Treatment of the elderly CAD patients should be done keeping clinical study
data and guidelines in mind and be evidence based so that these patients are
not left without treatment options that they could benefit from.
