Gülay GÜNAY
Karabük Üniversitesi İktisat Bölümü KARABÜK Introduction: The study was performed to test the reliability and validity of the Turkish version of The Process of Retirement Planning Scale-PRePS (Noone, Stphens and Alpass, 2010) developed to measure employees' planning behaviors of preparation for the retirement years.

Materials and Method: The study was conducted over a total of 216 participants who are working as academic and administrative staff at Karabuk University. The scale was made up of four subscales, namely the process of financial planning, lifestyle planning, psychosocial planning and health planning which attempt to measure the process of retirement planning behaviors of the employees. Besides The Process of Retirement Planning Scale-PRePS, to test the validity of the Turkish version of the scale, Future Time Perspective Scale and SF-36 quality of life scale were also administered to the participants.

Results: The structural validity of the scale was investigated by factor analysis. The results of the factor analysis were composed of four subscales in accordance with the original form of the scale. The results indicated high convergent and criterion related validities. Reliability analyses showed that the Process of Retirement Planning Scale-PRePS had a high internal consistency (Cronbach Alpha 0.88) and high test-retest (0.86) and split half (0.87) reliability coefficients.

Conclusion: The results of the factor analysis were compatible with the results of Noone, Stphens and Alpass's (2010). Based on these findings, it was concluded that the Turkish version of the PRePS had sufficiently high reliability and validity to justify its use as a tool to measure employees' retirement planning behaviors in Turkey.
