CURRENT TREATMENT OF COGNITIVE SYMPTOMS IN DEMENTIA

Effective treatments are greatly needed for dementia. Current drugs for
Alzheimer's disease target cholinergic and glutamatergic neuro transmission.
These treatments improve symptoms, although their effects on the pathogenesis
are still unclear. Continuing exploratory studies for disease-modifying therapies
are promising.
