Hacettepe Ãœniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Nöroloji Anabilim Dalı Ankara The current knowledge on the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease is derived from studies on pathology, genetics ,and in vivo and in vitro experimental studies. These studies point amiloid beta peptide (Aβ) and tau as key molecules for the pathogenesis of the disease. These molecules either as aggregates that they form or most probably as oligomers lead to the disease specific neurodegeneration. New genetic and experimetal studies are expected to disclose novel putative genes, molecules and pathways and further help our better understanding of the disease Keywords : Alzheimer Disease/genetics; Amyloid beta-Protein/genetics; tau Proteins/genetics
